  • ABOUT RASHMEEN NIRMAL

     

    Dr Rashmeen Nirmal is a Registered Psychologist and the Director of The Neurodevelopment Group. She is also a Staff Psychologist at BC Children's Hospital and a Clinical Instructor in the Faculty of Medicine at The University of British Columbia (UBC). Following an evidence-based approach, Dr Nirmal specializes in children, teens, and young adults with neurodevelopmental conditions. This includes individuals with cognitive, attention, executive functioning, learning, and/or social and emotional differences.

     

    Dr Nirmal is a specialist in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with a sub-expertise in girls and women with ASD. She has presented on the topic of ASD at national and international conferences, including presentations on the female phenotype of ASD. For her doctoral dissertation study, Dr Nirmal was one of the first researchers to examine the lived experiences of young adults with ASD attending college or university.     Rashmeen is a proud alumnus of UBC where she completed her MA and PhD degrees in School Psychology. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Florida where she was recruited from British Columbia on a golf scholarship. Through Dr Nirmal's experience as a junior golfer and a NCAA Student-Athlete, she has developed tremendous appreciation for the importance of physical activity and sport mental health among our growing children, teens, and young adults.

    Dr Nirmal has provided numerous talks at the local, national, and international level related to neurodevelopmental conditions. Venues include conferences, schools, hospitals, community agencies, and workplace settings.

     

    Known as a dynamic and engaging speaker, Dr Nirmal aims to share current scientific findings in a way that is practical, understandable, and relatable to her audience. She provides an inviting environment using humour, knowledge, story-telling, and case scenarios with the goal of having the content resonate and land with each participant.
